Being at Westbank Animal Care Hospital fills Jean-Marie's dream of working alongside animals and she thoroughly enjoys interacting with all our clients, human and four-legged, especially the pugs.

Jean-Marie and her daughter moved to the Okanagan 6 years ago from Alberta, and before that they lived in Saskatchewan. She has always had a love for animals even as a small child. When she was 6 her family got their first  pet, which was a pug. That started Jean-Marie's lifelong obsession with the breed, that continues to this day. The hardest thing she could ever do is look at a pug and not pet it. 😊 She presently has 2 senior pugs that fills her days with lots of entertainment and love. True to their nature of being love bugs.

At the age of 24, she moved in with her mom and grandmother, to help care for her grandmother that had developed dementia. It was at this time that they started a hobby farm, that  raised miniature horses  cows, sheep, rabbits, exotic chickens and ducks. Jean-Marie was able to bottle raise some of the lambs and calves, plus they incubated chicks that would start out in a playpen in the porch in the house, until they were big enough to be moved out to the barn. This experience helped deepen her love for animals, but it was also very theraputic for her grandmother to be able to spend time with the animals, as she had been raised on a farm as a child. This has left her with many great memories to take with her through life.
